Gov’t to start bidding for Laguindingan Airport expansion

The government is set to begin bidding out for the upgrading of Laguindingan Airport in December. Transportation secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said that the expansion will cover the following: modernization of airport facilities based on international standards, expansion of the cargo terminal and runway, and the construction of the new terminal building.

Megawide Construction and its partner GMR Infrastructure, a Bangalore-based firm is one of the interested bidders. This is the same company that took over the expansion, operations and maintenance of Mactan Cebu International Airport. The other interested players are Ayala Corporation and San Miguel Corporation.
