CDO wins in Liveable Cities Design Challenge Philippines

Cagayan de Oro outshone 16 other cities in the Liveable Cities Design Challenge government evacuation category. The awarding ceremony was held today at the Philippine International Convention Center.

There were four finalists in the government evacuation category namely Zamboanga City, Valenzuela City, Roxas City and Cagayan de Oro City. Ms. Aileen San Juan, the local economic and investment promotions officer of Cagayan de Oro received the award in behalf of the city. According to her, the success of team CDO was made possible through persistence, passion and prayer.

On the other hand, Iloilo City was declared the winner in the APEC Meeting Venue Category besting Cebu City and Legazpi City.

The Liveable City Design Challenge is a planning and design competition with the primary objective of having city planners across the country to come up with a better plan for their respective cities and municipalities in terms of disaster awareness, preparedness and risk reduction management.

There were 19 cities that were selected to join the competition and Cagayan de Oro was one of them. These cities meet the criteria of being liveable and that is a city that offers safety, convenience, livelihood, better lifestyle, and sustainability to its people.
