City Celebrates JR. Borja 50th Death Anniversary

Mayor Justiniano “Tinying” Borja, regarded as the city’s best mayor, was remembered earlier today for his 50th death anniversary. Present in the event are the city’s top officials headed by Mayor Oscar Moreno, the late mayor’s family, as well as different departments of the city government and members of the private sector.

Mayor Borja was most known for moving the old public market from Calle Real/Capistrano St. (replaced by the Amphitheater) and establishing it in the sleepy sitio of Cogon (hence, the road naming), establishing what is now Cogon Public Market, the city’s biggest hub for local business and trade for people of all classes. This has also accomplished the intended effect of expanding the city eastward.
