Cagayan de Oro City’s “Taxpayer-Friendly Kiosk and Automated Business Permit and Licensing System” has been chosen by the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 1o as a ‘model on good practice’ among local government units in Northern Mindanao.
The selection came during the agency’s recent ‘Training on Documenting LGUs Good Practices’ which was participated in by 11 cities and municipalities in Region 10 and aimed at drafting a ‘reference document’ of its ‘model projects’ or ‘good practices’ that can be replicated among interested LGUs.
Kagayanons are now enjoying a hassle-free and convenient transactions at the City Hall due to the touch screen, self-service, multifunctional kiosk machine. This is a first-of-its-kind in-house kiosk machine conceptualized by the City Treasurer’s Office that can issue receipts of bill on taxes and queuing number for payment transactions.
This has been made possible through the assistance of the USAID-funded prject INVEST. It has made tax collection faster and more efficient which resulted to almost 40% increase in the city’s tax collection.
Such innovative approach has pushed Cagayan de Oro City’s ranking to number 1 among all the cities in the country in terms e-governance. CDO has received the ‘E-Readiness Leadership Award given by the Department of Science and Technology.
