Our region, Northern Mindanao is in the third spot as top producers of corn in the Philippines. Region 1 and Region 12 are in top 1 and 2 respectively. This was revealed by Engr. Roxana Hojas, assistant regional director of the Department of Agriculture in an article published by Mindanao Gold Star Daily.

Northern Mindanao has rich fertile lands that grow different crops like corn. Bukidnon is one of the country’s food baskets; a major producer of rice, corn, sugar, banana, coffee, rubber, cassava, tomato, pineapple, and other fruits and vegetables. Another plus factor in NorMin is that it has farm to market roads that enable farmers to transport their harvests easily.

Cagayan de Oro is so blessed that it belongs to a productive region. It earns a lot not just from the multinational companies that have based here but from its thriving agricultural products like corn that contributes P14.8 billion to the corn industry.

Way to go Northern Mindanao!
