The Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) is in a celebratory mood today as it opened its newest building, the Engineering Complex. This new building will house all engineering and architecture faculty, staff, classrooms, laboratories, and other utilities, including an arena-type audio visual theater. This will also house commercial spaces in front of CM Recto Avenue. The ceremonies were attended by the University Board of Regents, as well as Cong. Rufus Rodriguez, a big proponent of the University’s advancement.
Beside the new building is the new entrance gate. Students are now greeted with a 6-lane RFID entry system.
The university also inaugurated the new cafeteria, a loaf-bread shaped white building behind the new Engineering Complex. It is aerodynamically designed, letting in natural air pass through and cooling the interiors.
The retrofitted old library/physics department is now called the Regional Food Innovation Center, a collaborative project of the DOST-X, DTI-X, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez, and the Food Processing Association of Northern Mindanao (FOPANORMIN).
The social sciences building will now be demolished to make way for the 6-storey Education Complex and Student Center.
The old cafeteria will now be converted into a University Mini Park.
