USAID acting assistant administrator for Asia visits CDO

Denise Rollins, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Assistant Administrator (AA) for Asia has visited Cagayan de Oro recently to reinforce the U.S. Government’s commitment to the partnership for growth in the Philippines especially cities outside Metro Manila to disperse economic opportunities throughout the country.

One of the positive outcomes of USAID’s assistance to Cagayan de Oro is the City Hall Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) which was established under Investment Enabling Environment Project (Invest) to reduce processing time of business renewals from 19 days to less than an hour. This was one of the programs inspected by Rollins during her visit.

Apart from the fast processing of business renewals, Rollins also saw the increase of revenue collection of the city. Mayor Oscar Moreno mentioned that CDO’s collection from January to March 2014 amounted to P412, 401,098 compared to P297, 276, 880 of the same period of 2013.

Based on Rollins observation, she said that CDO  is indeed on track as an ideal place for business and investment in the Philippines.
