Earth hour, an annual event by the World Wide Fund (WWF) Australia, is being widely celebrated across the Philippines. A lot of establishments in Cagayan de Oro participate in this yearly event of turning off lights and electronics for 1 hour at a select day in a Saturday of the last weeks of March. This year, a lot of environmental groups and even commercial and residential establishments are celebrating this event on the 29th. SM City, Primavera and even the city hall has pledged to join in, as electricity on public parks like gaston and Divisoria will be turned off. The city has become very conscious on environmental events, of course with the recent disasters. It is indeed a good thing that Kagay-anons are more involved in protecting the environment.
Will you join this year’s earth hour? What are your plans? Tell us at the comments below.
