Earlier this year, everybody in Northern Mindanao was eager and excited for the opening of Laguindingan Airport. We were in high hopes that this airport will not give us headaches that we experienced at Lumbia Airport. A more convenient and pleasant experience… that is what we thought.
The featured photo above shows the not so eternal line of passengers heading to the terminal fee payment. Another photo below is the scene at the pre-departure area. Isn’t this a familiar scene at Lumbia Airport? It is obviously cramped with no enough seats for everybody. And the problem does not end there. The X-ray machine of this airport has not been working for several months already forcing airport security personnel to do manual baggage inspection.
With these scenarios, do you think Laguindingan Airport meet your expectations? Is it really a much better airport than Lumbia? And lastly, is it now necessary for the government to expand Northern Mindanao’s gateway?
