Candidate Number 8 is Miss Jenalie E. Ubanan, 21 years old from Barangay Consolacion. She was born on November 1, 1991 and her supportive parents are Nazario P. Ubanan and Ella E. Ubanan. Jenalie is taking up Bachelor of Science in Development Communication at Xavier University. She stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 52 kilograms.
What motivated you to join Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013?
My strong desire motivated me a lot to join this pageant. Miss Cagayan de Oro is a pageant I have watched since I was a young girl and I have always aspired to be part of it as a lot of women do so. On the other hand, I’ve always been motivated by my family, with their all-out support and encouragements. For that I want to pay back to them by joining this pageant.
Who do you look up to as your role model and why?
My mother is my role model that I look up to, she is the most influential person in my life. The most compassionate and an epitome of a Christ like mother. She extended her hand and gave her blessings to people who were in need of help, the best that she could. And she raised me well with decency and to be God fearing.
What endearing qualities you have which is unique about you?
I believe having a good sense of humor is one unique about me, not everyone has it. It always felt so good and rewarding when you can make someone’s smile and laugh.
What makes Cagayan de oro the most beautiful city for you?
The beautiful smiles are a fitting welcome, with Cagayan de Oro’s accessible location, making it the Gateway to Northern Mindanao. A place where the historical sites and natural resources are rich and undisturbed specially the White water rafting and the river trekking that make it the premier water rafting destination in our country not just that it is also the home of friendly, hospitable and warm Filipinos, as it is The City of Golden Friendship. This is Cagayan de Oro, the most beautiful city for me and this is my home.
If crowned Miss Cagayan de Oro 2013, how will you make your reign memorable?
By promoting social awareness to every individual specially the youth in uplifting poor societal conditions. Another way is to promote programs and events that endeavor the development of one’s personality, building their self-esteem and other skills that will help achieve their goals.
What are the top 3 problems of Cagayan de Oro that needs to be addressed right away by the new City Mayor Oca Moreno?
First is the Traffic congestion and traffic discipline in Cagayan de Oro City as it worsened this time. It is an accepted fact that congestion hinders the free flow of goods and services, contributes significantly to pollution, and costs more in wasted fuel, time and productivity.Second is the Peace and Order in the city. The locals were alarm with the series of robberies and hold-up as it heightened security alert and scares a lot of people.The last is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV-Aids) in Cagayan de Oro as it got into an alarming level, As Cagayan de Oro has been tagged as one of the “hotspots” of HIV/Aids cases in the country.
What do you dream to become someday?
I dreamed to become a flight attendant someday, as I love to travel and to experience and compare completely new and different cultures, working with a different group of people every trip. Combining both those interests everyday is the same, yet hugely different learning’s as well. I want to get into a travel and make a part of every experience a memorable one.
