No bomb incidents and threats could ever stop Kagayanons from celebrating its annual Kagayan Festival in honor of the city’s patron saint, St. Augustine. Mayor Oscar Moreno has pronounced yesterday in a press conference at City Hall that the festival will resume as scheduled. “We must not be paralyzed just because it happened,” said Moreno.
Eileen San Juan, the chairman of this year’s fiesta committee said the theme of the celebration is “Higala-ay: The Kagay-an Festival 2013.” Unfortunately, they have to limit the activities by excluding some events like the street dancing competitions not because of bomb threats but due to budget constraints.
Meanwhile, City Police Office Operations Chief Lemuel Gonda said that PNP has finalized the security preparations to ensure the safety of Kagayanons, visitors, and tourists. On the other hand, traffic is also expected to build up. Atty. Edgardo Uy, the head of Task Force Hapsay Dalan told the press that the Road and Traffic Administration (RTA) is already finalizing the traffic rerouting scheme for this year’s celebration.
