CDO’s premier weekend market set to launch this month

Something exciting will take place soon at Pueblo de Oro. Yes, it is a weekend market in the likes of Salcedo Community Market in Makati showcasing local products. Specifically located at the right side of BMW Showroom just near the Pueblo de Oro Office, the weekend market will have its grand launching on August 25. But it will have its soft opening on August 24.

Local products and specialties will be sold in this area, from processed and cooked foods to fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat. It will also invite and feature local CDO performing and visual artists. There will be face painting and photo booth stations, and free wi-fi. Clean toilets will be provided. Everybody’s safety is ensured with security and emergency personnel (first responder training) in place with bomb sniffing dogs, EMT personnel, and CCTV security system in place. The weekend market strictly prohibits smoking and alcoholic drinks.

With unique products to be sold, the weekend market is set to attract food lovers from different parts of Cagayan de Oro and balikbayans, expats, and foreign visitors as well. It will be a good start-up point for rising entrepreneurs who are still going to introduce their products to the consumers. The weekend market aims to be the birthplace of big names and popular brands in the future.

Initially, the weekend market will open from 6 am until 4 pm. But, on its grand launching, it will open til night in time for the Pyro Festival of SM City Cagayan de Oro. Eventually, if the demand goes higher, the night time schedule would be done regularly.

The Urban Fiesta Team, the organizers behind this weekend market are advocates of clean and green. They will actively promote the use of recyclable packaging products, avoid the use of plastic bags, and practice effective solid waste management in the market site.

Part of the profit of this business venture will go to the victims of Typhoon Sendong. They will closely work with those relocation sites primarily the Diocese of Cagayan de Oro and NGOs such as Balay Mindanaw.

Let us spread this good news and make Cagayan de Oro not just an adventure destination but a food and culinary capital as well… “Pang foodie na, pang adventure pa jud!”
