Good news Kagayanons! Cagayan de Oro is the Philippines’ most competitive city in 2012 according to the National Competitiveness Council. San Francisco in Agusan del Sur is the most competitive municipality. A city’s competitiveness was based on three indicators: economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure.
Following Cagayan de Oro are the cities of Iloilo; San Fernando, Pampanga; Butuan City and Bacolod City. According to Guillermo Luz, NCC private sector chairman, the rankings can be a helpful tool for investors when picking their business location.
Cagayan de Oro is also in the top three in government efficiency together with the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod. For this indicator, city is judged in terms of transparency and accountability, public finance, performance recognition, business responsiveness and basic government services.
Naga topped the list for infrastructure followed by San Fernando in Pampanga and Cagayan de Oro. The data was gathered on a city’s road network, basic utilities and registered vehicles.
