A lot of Kagayanons have been thinking that the repainting of Licoan Flyover is politically motivated, that it is Mayor Oscar Moreno’s action to remove the color that dominated the city during the Emano administration. Actually, this repainting project is based on the order of Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson that bridges and similar structures like flyovers should have the same coats of paint.
For bridges, Singson ordered that the standard orange color be used. Black and white stripes must be the coat of other structures like flyovers. This repainting project is currently ongoing not only here in Cagayan de Oro but all over the country. DPWH wants the reflectorized kind of color which would make the structures safer and more visible for motorists at night.
