Cagayan de Oro City is one of the favorite convention destinations in the Philippines. In fact, Starbucks decided to open its first branch in Mindanao at Limketkai last 2010 because of CDO’s potential as Mindanao’s convention capital. So, in order for the city to maintain its status as a top convention destination and to materialize its goal of hosting international assemblies like APEC, it needs bigger and better infrastructures. And the City of Golden Friendship is fortunate enough to have the new Cagayan de Oro International Convention Center.
Although this project is more than a decade in the making, at least the national government through the DPWH released the 200 million budget to finish its construction three years ago. With these photos, it appears that indeed the exterior is almost complete. However, we are not sure if the interior is already done and whether the necessary facilities and equipment are already installed.
I fervently hope that this convention center will already be utilized the soonest. Tsadagyud envisions CDO to be next host of APEC Summit or the Philippine Ad Congress.
