The Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro (CIC) showed a free cooking demo with Chef Troy Morales last Saturday morning, March 9, 2013 in their training center at Legacy Building, A. Luna Street. The program started with the welcome address of Chef Malou Caudal, the program director of CIC. She also gave a brief background of CIC, its beginnings, vision, affiliations, and achievements.
Chef Malou was then followed by Chef Troy for the cooking demo which was the highlight of the event. He was assisted by two students of CIC. They introduced to the audience the new course of the institute which will be offered on June 2013, the Certificate in Restaurant and Catering Operations. This course is for those who would like to operate their own restaurants and food business right away. They will be taught on how to prepare foods at a lesser cost with a higher profit. So, the foods that were cooked and shown were siomai, fried rice, and binagoongang rice something that is common and practical for food cart business. The audience had a free taste and I was lucky enough to be one of them. And it tasted really good! CIC is giving a huge discount to those who attended the event if they decide to enroll in the program.
After the cooking demo, the audience then had a tour to the entire institute and had witnessed the real action in the kitchen. It was one great experience that gave me so many insights in the culinary world.
